Priorities & Initiatives

Information Management Program
Information Management Program
This ambitious plan will develop and carry out a series of steps that will improve our handling and securing of private information, our management of university records, and the preservation of KU’s institutional memory for today’s decision-makers and tomorrow’s scholars.

Deferred maintenance

Annual repair funds from the state have not kept up with deteriorating infrastructure and other maintenance needs of the university’s $1.5 billion in building assets. Addressing deferred maintenance is a priority issue for KU and the Kansas Board of Regents. The university is responsible for providing students, faculty, and staff with a built environment that is safe and encourages learning.

Diversity

Diversity matters at the University of Kansas. It matters because diversity enriches our ability to solve problems and create new knowledge. It is our goal to have the richest possible mix of perspectives, life-experiences, interests, world-views and cultures in our campus community.

Gender Equity

The University of Kansas is firmly committed to procedures and practices that ensure fairness in hiring and advancement with regard to gender.

Graduate in Four

Timely graduation is a key component of student success. In spring of 2005, a task force was assembled to explore why KU's undergraduate graduation rates were lower than those at similar institutions. A summary of key findings from the work of the Graduate in Four (GIF) task force, including background information, guiding principles, specific recommendations, and resulting actions is provided at the link above.

Four Year Tuition Compact

KU will complete its five-year tuition enhancement plan at the end of the 2006-2007 academic year. Tuition planning for the future is in progress and includes a proposal for a four-year base credit hour tuition plan from academic year 2007 through academic year 2012.
