I want to call to your attention a revision of the policy on evaluations of unclassified professional staff, available at https://documents.ku.edu/policies/hreo/unclassifiedevals.htm. This is an update of the policy on annual evaluations that formerly appeared in section C.4 of the 1998 Handbook for Faculty and Other Unclassified Staff. The revisions are based upon the recommendations of the Unclassified Senate and of a University Governance subcommittee that was convened last spring to review the information about employment of unclassified professional staff that is currently included in C.4 and provide recommendations about updates.

This policy is now in effect and will be used for the annual evaluations of unclassified professional staff that will take place later this fiscal year. The Office of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity will offer to supervisors and employees information sessions on the policy and its application.
