Dear Colleagues:
As you know, the University has begun searching for a successor to Provost Richard Lariviere, who stepped down to assume the presidency of the University of Oregon last June. Chancellor Gray-Little has appointed a search committee to identify highly qualified individuals for this position.
A copy of the position announcement is attached. It will run in the Chronicle of Higher Education in the October 9 and 16 issues and will also be placed in other higher education publications.
Everyone on the Lawrence Campus has a stake in selecting the next Provost. We invite faculty, staff, students, retirees and friends to nominate outstanding individuals by sending an email message with the name and contact information of the nominee to any of the members of the search committee:
You may also directly send nominations to the committee's search consultant, Bill Funk, at bill.funk@rwilliamfunk.com. All nominees will receive a letter inviting them to apply for the position.
On behalf of the search committee, I welcome your nominations and thank you for your commitment to the University of Kansas.
Sincerely,
Mabel Rice,
Fred and Virginia Merrill Distinguished Professor of Advanced Studies
Chair, Provost Search Committee
