GTA Minimum Rates 2009-2010 Academic Year

Colleagues –

This memo explains FY 2010 minimum GTA salaries in accordance with the current MOA.

As we have suspected for many months, the budgetary situation does not allow the university to provide merit increases for any category of university employee for the upcoming Fiscal Year.

However, in order to conform to Article 6, Section 3 of the GTA Memorandum of Agreement*, we will need to ensure that each GTA with an appointment of 50% for the academic-year will have a base minimum salary no less than $12,250. Beginning August 18, 2009, the minimum biweekly rate for a half-time GTA appointment will be $630.51.

Please consult with your dean’s office concerning the FY 2010 allocation total for GTA appointments in your department. Additional allocations to schools will not be made from central funds; therefore, existing resources will need to be utilized.

Thank you,

Diane H. Goddard
Vice Provost for Finance
