I am writing to request your input into KU's strategic plan, "Initiative 2015," by responding to a short feedback page at http://www.chancellor.ku.edu/2015/tl/comments/ Your response should take less than 10 minutes.
You might ask why, in a time of transition and budget cuts, are we moving forward with strategic planning. It is precisely at this time that we need to focus our energy wisely in order to accomplish our goals as an international research university.
"Initiative 2015" sets forth goals for our immediate future. Heidi Chumley at KU Medical Center and I are coordinating actions to implement the "Teaching and Learning" recommendations. We are each seeking wide input on our respective campuses.
I will gather comments through February 16, 2009 and share a summary of the responses on the Initiative 2015 website. Please note that the General Comments and Feedback option on this website is always open and your feedback is welcome regarding any part of "Initiative 2015."
Additionally, Dan Bernstein and I have considered the creation of a discussion group about the KU educational experience. We may take as a point of departure Derek Bok's Our Underachieving Colleges (2005). If you are interested in participating in such a group, please drop me a note at vpaa@ku.edu.
