The program is designed to assist new managers in gaining a greater understanding of the University's administrative support functions. Participants will meet key campus administrators and will gain insights about resources available to help them manage their units. The preliminary agenda for the orientation session, including a luncheon, is attached.
The program is best suited for individuals who manage (rather than supervise) a departmental program or function and who have the discretion to establish program direction. Individuals who are most likely to benefit from this program are those who function at the level of assistant director or higher and who have assumed their management roles within the last five years. New department chairs, associate chairs, directors of academic programs, associate directors, and new associate deans will find the orientation particularly useful regarding institution-wide functions and key contact persons.
By February 2, 2009, please provide Ola Faucher, HR/EO (ofaucher@ku.edu), with the names of individuals in your area who should be invited to attend this program. Please confirm their availability for the February 25th session when you nominate them. Please also let the individuals know that they may submit a question(s) for presenters to respond at the session by sending the question(s) to HR/EO at hrdept@ku.edu.
