Invitation: Elizabeth Asiedu's Byron T. Shutz Award Lecture
Dear Colleagues,

Elizabeth Asiedu, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, has been selected as the recipient of the 22nd Byron T. Shutz Award for Distinguished Teaching. A member of the faculty since 1998, her research has focused on Foreign Direct Investment, Foreign Aid and African Economic Development.

Professor Asiedu will present her public Shutz Award lecture, "The HIV/AIDS Epidemic: A Challenge for Sub-Saharan Africa," on Tuesday, November 18, at 4:00 p.m. in the Commons at Spooner Hall. A reception of hors d'oeuvres and beverages will immediately follow.

Please join me in congratulating Elizabeth on this well-deserved honor, and I very much hope that you will be able to attend the lecture and reception.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Kathy DuBois Reed in this office, 785-864-4904 or kdubois@ku.edu.

Sincerely,

Richard Lariviere
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
