I am pleased to announce that the KU Online Advising Tool is now available. I am confident that this tool will prove an effective means for supporting our students' progress toward timely graduation, and make us all more efficient and effective in meeting our students’ needs.
The KU Online Advising Tool is accessible to advisers, students and others (as approved) via authorized sign-on through the Kyou portal. Its initial features include secure access to student records, course search capabilities, secure messaging with students, a notes function and a calendar/appointment function. These features were designed by advisers from the Lawrence, Edwards and Medical Center campuses who have informed the tool's development over the past 18 months.
A number of demonstrations of the tool are being scheduled for advisers. I encourage those of you with advising duties to take advantage of these opportunities to learn more about the KU Online Advising Tool and its potential for enhancing your work with students. Additional features are already in development. These and other enhancements to the tool will be activated in the near future, in response to the suggestions of advisers and students. Please continue participating in this ongoing development by providing feedback via the tool's online form.
The KU Online Advising Tool is the result of a partnership of Information Services, Student Success, University Relations and the KU Medical Center. I am grateful to these colleagues who worked so responsively to create this tool, and I extend my thanks to the members of the technical implementation team responsible for its implementation.
