About the Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor Richard Lariviere

Dr. Richard Lariviere is the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost at the University of Kansas. From 1999-2006 he was the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. At the University of Texas he also held several endowed Chairs and Professorships, and had other administrative responsibilities. He is a Fellow of the IC2 Institute, a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain, a life member of the American Oriental Society, and a founding member of the Society for Design and Process Science. The author of prize-winning works on Indian legal history, he is also a consultant to American and Indian companies in the information technology and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industries and has served on corporate boards in the IT industry. He is married to Janis Worcester Lariviere and they have one daughter, Anne Elizabeth.
